To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the number of United Kingdom personnel belonging to the armed forces stationed in the middle east. [6357]

As of 1 July 1995, there were some 1,364 UK armed forces personnel stationed in the middle east region. This figure includes those deployed on operations—such as the Armilla patrol—loan service personnel and personnel attached to embassies.
