HC Deb 09 January 1996 vol 269 c171W
Mr. Frank Field

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many people in employment are not currently members of(a) the state earnings-related pension scheme, (b) company pension schemes and (c) personal pension schemes; and what assessment he has made of the causes of this lack of provision. [7590]

Mr. Heald

The information is not available. Employees who accrue no SERPS entitlement and are not members of company or personal pension schemes will be earning below the annual lower earnings limit for national insurance contributions. As employers are not required to provide details of such employees, no records are held centrally.
