To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will review the criteria for risk categories for firefighting; and if he will make a statement. [6923]

The criteria for risk categories are an integral part of the nationally recommended minimum standards of fire cover. In response to a recommendation in the Audit Commission report. "In the line of Fire", these standards are being reviewed by the Central Brigades Advisory Council.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the estimated cost of rebuilding Downham fire station. [6920]

Mr. Sackville

Responsibility for the provision of fire services, including the cost of rebuilding fire stations, is a matter for the fire authority concerned—in this case, the London fire and civil defence authority.
