HC Deb 22 February 1996 vol 272 cc280-1W
Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with(a) the outgoing chairman and (b) the incoming chairman of the South-East Wales ambulance trust concerning the payment of bonuses to the chief executive, finance director and operations director for the year 1994–95 for achieving financial break-even. [16423]

Mr. Hague

I have had no such consultations. The payment of bonuses is a matter for the trust.

Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultation he had with the out-going chairman of the South East Wales ambulance trust concerning the impact of his agreement on deferral of the dividend payment on the trust's capital on the calculation of the financial break-even point for the trust. [16420]

Mr. Hague

None. My officials have maintained close contact with the trust since its financial problems became apparent. Appropriate decisions to defer dividend payments were taken to safeguard patient services and the long-term viability of the trust.
