HC Deb 02 December 1996 vol 286 cc474-5W
Mr. David Nicholson

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will list, for the financial years 1993–94, 1994–95 and 1996–97, in Somerset, those road schemes costing more than £50,000 requiring his Department's approval, indicating the location or road number, the total spent on each scheme in each year and the contribution made by his Department in each year. [6912]

Mr. Watts

Local authorities do not require my Department's approval for their road schemes, but they may seek financial help under the transport policies and programme—TPP—system. The Department keeps records of individual schemes only where they cost at least £2 million. Details of the schemes that the Department supported in Somerset in the years quoted, and in 1995–96, including the amounts allocated to them
