To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what proportion of his investment programme for the provision and maintenance of the national road transport system in each year since 1992–93 has been devoted to the repair and maintenance of existing roads. [6742]

The following table shows gross capital expenditure by the Department for the provision and maintenance of the national road system, the capital amount spent on road maintenance and repair of the national road system and this figure represented as a percentage of the total.
