Having consulted Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools on future school inspection arrangements, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has now asked him to consult on more targeted arrangements to come into effect from September 1997 for secondary schools and September 1998 for other schools. The chief inspector expects to initiate this consultation next week.
