Mr. Raynsford

To ask the secretary of state for the Enviornment what(a) research and (b) consultancy has been commissioned by (i) his Department, (ii) the Government office for London, (iii) the River Thames working group and (iv) the Thames advisory group in each of the past two years on matters relating to the River Thames; and if he will list the organisation as undertaking this work and its total cost. Research and consultancy work for the above groups on matters relating to the Thames is commissioned by the Government office for London. The following work has been commissioned in the past two years:

The total cost to the Government of this work was £146,043.

The Government office for London has also contributed a total of £37,500 in 1995–96 towards urban design schemes for Thames-side sites in Southwark and Hounslow.
