Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what consultations he has had with the European Commission concerning the placing of an advertisement in the contracts supplement of theOfficial Journal of the European Communities for the sale of the Estatecare division of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority; and if he will make a statement. Mr. Hague

None. There is no requirement to consult the European Commission.

Mr. Morgan

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on the progress of the privatisation procedure in respect of the prescription pricing division of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority. [40726]

Mr. Hague

I expect that the Welsh Health Common Services Authority will he able to announce the outcome of its market test of prescription pricing services within the next few weeks.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement concerning the arrangements for the advertisement for sale of the Estatecare division of the Welsh Health Common Services Authority(a) within the United Kingdom and (b) outside; on what occasions such advertisements have already been published; how many direct approaches to potential trade sale buyers have been made; what consultations he has had with the staff of the Estatecare division concerning their future employment and stake in future arrangements; and if TUPE will apply. [40727]

These are matters for the Welsh Health Common Services Authority. I have asked the chief executive to write to the hon. Member and will arrange for a copy of his reply to be placed in the Library of the House.
