Mr. Colvin

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the latest position regarding disposal of married quarters. [40387]

Mr. Soames

We are continuing to consider possibilities for transferring ownership of the married quarters estate to the private sector. We expect to be in a position to clarify the way ahead before the end of the year.

Mr. Colvin

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the number of married quarters in each local housing authority area; and what is the percentage vacant. [40386]

The information requested is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
