HC Deb 30 October 1995 vol 265 cc114-5W
Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will make a statement on the work of Scotland Europa Ltd; and what criteria he applies to measure the success of this body. [39223]

Mr. Michael Forsyth

I met recently with the chief executive of Scotland Europa to hear of its work and plans for the future. The subscribers to Scotland Europa's services come from a wide range of interests, including business, educational bodies and local authorities, and the numbers are increasing every year. Thus, the body is successful by satisfying its paying customers and increasing their numbers.

Scottish Enterprise recently decided to continue to provide support to Scotland Europa in order to continue the service to Scottish business and organisations. The criteria against which it will judge the body include its success in providing for its customers information and advice on developments in the European Union, assistance in lobbying, help in seeking out other regional partners and participating in appropriate European programmes.
