HC Deb 30 October 1995 vol 265 c16W
35. Mr. Key

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the value of multilateral aid projects to China to which Britain contributes; and what is that cost to Britain of such multilateral aid. [37870]

Mr. Hanley

In 1994, the World bank, Asian development bank, and the United Nations aid agencies committed the equivalent of around £2.9 billion to China. An overall estimate of the cost to the UK cannot readily be calculated. In addition, the EC committed the equivalent of some £27 million in 1994, of which the expected British share will be £4.5 million.
