§ 35. Mr. KeyTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what is the value of multilateral aid projects to China to which Britain contributes; and what is that cost to Britain of such multilateral aid. [37870]
§ Mr. HanleyIn 1994, the World bank, Asian development bank, and the United Nations aid agencies committed the equivalent of around £2.9 billion to China. An overall estimate of the cost to the UK cannot readily be calculated. In addition, the EC committed the equivalent of some £27 million in 1994, of which the expected British share will be £4.5 million.
