To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, pursuant to his letter 90854, of 23 September to the hon. Member for Linlithgow, if he will make a statement on his consultation with legal experts and scientists about the Tony research and development project, and the Bartlett-Davidson patent, relating to patenting of DNA nucleotides sequencing for identification of animal species. To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) what is his policy on the export of horses for slaughter; [38005]

(2) what plans he has to amend or repeal the minimum values system which prevents the export of horses for slaughter; and if he will make a statement. [38008]

We remain committed to the minimum values system for exported equines, and have no intention of amending or repealing it.
