HC Deb 28 November 1995 vol 267 cc588-9W
Mr. Norman Hogg

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what advice he has given to the Lanarkshire development agency on the membership of its board following local government reorganisation; and if he will make a statement. [2541]

Mr. Kynoch

[holding answer 27 November 1995]: None. The membership of the board of a local enterprise company is a matter for that board subject to the requirements in its articles of association. In particular, these require two thirds of the members to be drawn from senior businessmen or businesswomen from the local area. It is an operational matter for Scottish Enterprise to ensure that Lanarkshire development agency complies with those requirements.
