HC Deb 23 November 1995 vol 267 c272W
24. Mr. Mackinlay

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer in what areas and by which method the Government have ensured an increase in the disposable income of the average family since April 1992. [716]

Mr. Jack

The Government have consistently sought rising living standards through a combination of prudent monetary and fiscal policies and continuing supply-side reforms to boost the real productive capacity of the economy. Real personal disposable income has grown by over 6 per cent. since early 1992. Unemployment has fallen by over 700,000 since its peak at the end of 1992.
