HC Deb 22 November 1995 vol 267 c225W
Mr. George Howarth

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many redundancies will be triggered by the implementation of automated security systems at HM prison Parkhurst; and what redundancy settlements he proposes. [392]

Miss Widdecombe

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the temporary Director General of the Prison Service, who has been asked to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from Richard Tilt to Mr. George Howarth, dated 22 November 1995: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about the number of redundancies at Parkhurst prison which may be expected with the implementation of automated security systems there and what redundancy packages have been made. Automated security systems are an aid to prison security. No staff redundancies at Parkhurst are anticipated from the implementation of such security systems.
