HC Deb 21 November 1995 vol 267 c47W
Mr. Steinberg

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many people were employed in the dairy industry(a) on 31 October 1994 and (b) on the last date for which figures are available. [202]

Mrs. Angela Knight

The most reliable information on jobs in the dairy industry is available from the periodic censuses of employment. The census shows that there were 29,800 jobs in the dairy industry in Great Britain at September 1993. Estimates from the smaller labour force survey suggest a small increase between autumn 1994 and spring 1995.
