§ Lord James Douglas-Hamilton[holding answer 7 November 1995]: Information on management, administrative and clerical staff expenditure is contained in the NHS accounts for 1989–90 and 1994–95, the latest year for which figures are available. These costs, expressed as a proportion of the total for the NHS, for (a) 1989–90 were 5.34 per cent. and for (b) 1994–95 were 6.86 per cent.
