To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many jobcentres have closed since 1990 where the nearest alternative office for signing on is more than five miles away. [41679]

The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your question about how many Jobcentres have closed since 1990 where the nearest alternative office is more than five miles away.The number of Jobcentres (taken to include separate Benefit Offices) is 51 of which 20 were only open part time.I hope this is helpful.
