HC Deb 07 November 1995 vol 265 c720W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what recent representations she has received from(a) pensioners and (b) other bodies urging the abolition of the television licence concession in favour of a low-cost television licence for all pensioners. [41675]

Mr. Sproat

The Government receive regular representations from and on behalf of pensioners, calling either for the extension of the concessionary television licence scheme or for reduced fee licences for all pensioners. There are few specific requests to abolish the concessionary scheme.
