HC Deb 03 November 1995 vol 265 cc516-7W
Mr. Gordon Prentice

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what estimate he has made of the average age of the bus fleet operated by(a) private bus companies and (b) municipal undertakings. [41283]

Mr. Norris

The records held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency show that, at the end of 1994, public service vehicles in the bus taxation class having nine or more seats had an average age of just under 10 years. The split of the average age of the fleet between private bus companies and municipal undertakings is not readily available.
