§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe assessment of demand for sheltered housing is a matter for local housing authorities, working in partnership, as appropriate, with Scottish Homes, housing associations and other housing agencies. This assessment should take into account whether elderly people wish to remain within their communities, and what type of provision is appropriate in local circumstances.
