To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many road traffic accidents involving police patrol vehicles were reported in each police force area in England and Wales for each year since 1991; and how many(a) police officers and (b) civilians sustained injuries as a result. [21029]

[holding answer 3 May 1995]: The latest information which is available centrally on the total number of police vehicle accidents in 1991-93 is shown in the following table. The information on injuries relates to those where death or serious injury has arisen in the course of either police pursuits or responses to emergency calls.
