To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department who took the decision that CCTV bids in(a) Folkestone and Hythe and (b) Penrith and the Borders should be successful in receiving Government funding over the challenge scheme. [22312]

[holding answer 3 May 1995]: I decided on all bids under the CCTV challenge scheme on the basis of recommendations made by an assessment panel of Home Office officials and consultants seconded to the Home Office.
