HC Deb 01 May 1995 vol 259 c16W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what assessment he has made of the effect of the takeover of British manufacturers by their foreign competitors on the number of sales outlets for British goods overseas; and if he will make a statement about the number of those outlets that are now selling foreign in preference to British goods. [21416]

Mr. Jonathan Evans

None. United Kingdom export performance does not appear to be hampered by foreign takeovers, nor by a shortage of sales outlets: the value of UK exports grew by 46 per cent. between 1989 and 1994, to reach record levels.
