HC Deb 30 March 1995 vol 257 c766W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many people were reported as suffering from(a) tuberculosis, (b) breast cancer and (c) cervical cancer in 1994; and if he will make a statement. [16744]

Mr. Richards

Information on the total number of people suffering from diseases is not collected centrally. However, provisional figures for 1994 show that there were 184 new cases of tuberculosis in Wales notified to the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys. In 1989, the latest year for which complete data are available, there were 1,674 new female breast cancers and 342 new cervical cancers registered by the Wales Cancer Registry.
