§ Sir George YoungIt is impossible to provide details of the tax revenue, gross or net, from 714-holding subcontractors. But deductions made by contractors from payment to subcontractors, on account of tax and national insurance contributions, which are paid over to the Revenue under the SC60 system have been running at about £1 billion per annum over the last five years. Part of this will be repayable to the subcontractors, although the amount is unquantifiable.
