To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what has been the increase in real disposable income over the past 15 years; and if he will make a statement.

Real household disposable incomes per head have risen by nearly £50 a week, or 47 per cent., since 1979. They rose by only £8 a week, or 9 per cent., between 1974 and 1979.
