HC Deb 22 June 1995 vol 262 c407W
Mr. Spellar

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what representations he has received regarding additional sulphur quotas for Northern Ireland's electricity generators; and when he expects to make a decision. [28980]

Mr. Moss

On the basis of representations from public representatives, Northern Ireland Electricity and the Northern Ireland generators, consideration is being given to the possible transfer of surplus allocations of sulphur dioxide and oxides of nitrogen from power stations in Great Britain to Northern Ireland.

It is hoped that a decision on this can be made in the near future and, as already undertaken, I will advise the hon. Member of the outcome of this examination as soon as possible.
