§ Mr. David MarshallTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to increase funding to victim support groups; and if he will make a statement. [29275]
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonI am pleased to be able to advise that the funding support given by the Scottish Office to victim support (Scotland) increased from £890,000 in 1994–95 to £985,000 for 1995–96, an increase of 9.64 per cent.; £700,430 of this grant is set aside for distribution by the independent funding panel to provide local co-ordinator posts. Victim Support (Scotland) will put its financial proposals forward later this year in respect of 1996–97, and this will be carefully considered along with the proposals put forward by other voluntary organisations.
