§ Dr. GodmanTo ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what is his most recent estimate of the number of people in(a) Inverclyde, (b) Strathclyde and (c) Scotland infected with hepatitis C from contaminated blood products; and how many of these people are haemophiliacs.
§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonA "lookback" exercise is currently under way to seek to identify, counsel and treat patients who may have been exposed to the hepatitis C virus via blood or blood products. It is estimated that around 650 people throughout Scotland may have been infected in this way, 350 of whom are likely to be haemophiliacs. A breakdown for Inverclyde and Strathclyde is not available.
