To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what bonuses were paid to prison officers at Blakenhurst prison by United Kingdom Detention Services following the riots of February 1994; and what conditions were applied to them. [28831]

Letter from A. J. Butler to Mr. George Howarth, dated 19 June 1995: The Home Secretary has asked me, in the absence of the Director General from the office, to reply to your recent Question about bonuses paid to prison officers at Blakenhurst prison by United Kingdom Detention Services following the riots of February 1994; and what conditions were applied to them. No bonuses were paid to prisoner custody officers following the disturbances at Blakenhurst prison on 24 February 1994. Three prisoner custody officers were presented with £50 meritorious conduct awards by United Kingdom Detention Services for their conduct during the disturbance.
