Mr. Alfred Morris

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the expenditure on personal social services for disabled people in each year since 1970. [28202]

Mr. Moss

In 1992–93 the format of the accounts of the health and social services boards was changed to accommodate health service reforms. The information requested is available from an analysis of these accounts, and the estimated personal social services expenditure on physically and sensorily disabled people was £9.2 million in 1992–93, and £11.3 million in 1993–94. Information on expenditure on the equivalent services prior to 1992–93 could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.
