§ Mr. DorrellData published by the Central Statistical Office for 1993, the latest year for which figures are available, show the overseas earnings of UK television companies as totalling £113 million. Total earnings will have been higher than this, because some of the record £236 million overseas earnings of the UK film industry for transmission rights, royalties and sales will have been generated by their television productions, but this component is not separately identifiable.
