Ms Hodge

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is the level of expenditure on consultancy by(a) his Department and (b) agencies for which his Department is responsible for (i) 1993–94 and (ii) 1994–95; and what is projected for 1995–96. [25545]

Mr. Redwood

Expenditure on management and other consultants engaged by the Welsh Office was £1,454,000 in 1993–94 and £805,000 in 1994–95. Contracts for 1995–96 have not yet been finalised, but I have asked that expenditure should not exceed the reduced level recorded in 1994–95.

Information for non-departmental public bodies is not held centrally and could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
