To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the value of contracts for the supply of textile products in 1995–96 financial year; how many contracts and to what value have already been let; and what proportion of this work was awarded to Remploy. [20392]

[holding answer Friday 28 April 1995]: The value of contracts for the supply of textile products for delivery in financial year 1995–96 is expected to be £114.7 million, VAT inclusive. A total of 472 contracts are currently in place with expected expenditure in financial year 1995–96 of £42.9 million.

Remploy currently has 26 contracts which include a total expected spend of £11.1 million in financial year 1995–96.
