§ Mr. Worthington
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what have been the number of full-time professional staff employed in the youth service over the past 10 years. [35005]

§ Mr. Ancram
There are currently 243 full-time professional workers employed in the youth service. Details for the past 10 years are not held centrally and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

§ Mr. Worthington
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the current capital expenditure on the youth service in Northern Ireland; and if he will list the projects funded. [35003]

§ Mr. Ancram
Planned expenditure on capital grant to voluntary youth in 1995–96 is £2,000. In addition the five education and library boards have estimated that, in total, they plan to spend £409,000 in 1995–96 on capital works—major works, minor works and the purchase of furniture, equipment and property. The total includes provision for starting one major new capital project, Taghnevan youth and community centre, Craigavon. Details of individual minor projects and other expenditure are not available.

1989–90: £23.05

1990–91: £23.42

1991–92: £25.19

1992–93: £28.82
