To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many people now receive severe disablement allowance; and how many receive age

recipients of income support who were subject to more than one deduction from income support by the number of deductions; and if he will list the average value of these deductions for each group. [35244]

As at 3 April 1993, the latest year for which actual figures are available, there were 316,000 recipients of severe disablement allowance. The numbers entitled to the higher, middle and lower rate age allowances were 211,000; 54,000 and 45,000 respectively.
