§ Mr. Beggs
To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what consideration is being given to the relocation of prisoners from Great Britain to Northern Ireland prisons; and if he will make a statement. [35595]

§ Miss Widdecombe
The Criminal Justice Act 1961 provides for prisoners convicted in one United Kingdom jurisdiction to request permanent or temporary transfer to another United Kingdom jurisdiction.
Requests for transfer continue to be considered on their individual merits under criteria announced to the House on 23 November 1992.
