To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage, pursuant to her answer of 27 June,Official Report, column 598, if funds from the national lottery may be used to match grant assistance from the environmental action fund. [33702]

I understand that the rules under which the environmental action fund is administered require applicants to secure matching funding from non-public sector sources. Funds provided by the national lottery distributing bodies are classified as public expenditure and cannot, therefore, be counted as matching funding for EAF purposes.
