HC Deb 18 July 1995 vol 263 c1103W
Mr. Bradley

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list how many people have been refused an award of disability working allowance on renewal by reasons for disallowance. [35254]

Mr. Andrew Mitchell

The information is in the table:

Reasons for disallowing renewal claims for disability working allowance, for the period 1 November 1992 to 31 January 19951
Reason for disallowance Total disallowed
Not resident in Great Britain 1
Capital exceed £16,000 10
Not in remunerative work 558
Income exceeds DWA level 515
No qualifying benefit 343
Disability test 99
Receiving Family Credit 32
DWA claim made more than six weeks before end date of DWA award 2465

Other reasons 16
Total 1,574
1 1 November is the first date of receipt for DWA renewal claims.2 This figure includes claims that have been disallowed because the renewal claim was made more than six weeks before the current claim ends. Some of these may have been subsequently disallowed for another reason, and therefore recorded more than once in the above table.
