Mr. Redwood

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what plans his Department has to dispose of leasehold and freehold obligations and interests in the central London area. [34375]

Mr. Jonathan Evans

The DTI plans to pass back to Property Holdings the leasehold obligations for Ashdown house, 123 Victoria street, London SW1E 6RB and for 1 Palace street, London SW1E 5HE.

DTI's Radiocommunications Agency is relocating from Waterloo Bridge house, Waterloo road, London SE 1 8UA, to South quay III, 189 Marsh wall, London E14 9SX. If another use cannot he found for Waterloo Bridge house, the lease will be surrendered to the landlord.

This reply does not take account of the recent machinery of Government changes.

To ask the President of the Board of Trade which properties in central London his Department will vacate and which they will continue to occupy on the completion of 1 to 19 Victoria street. [34374]

Mr. Evans

The central London buildings which will be vacated by the Department of Trade and Industry after the re-occupation of 1 Victoria street is complete are:

  • Ashdown house,. 123 Victoria street, London SW1E 6RB
  • 1 Palace street, London SW1E 5HE

The Department will then continue to occupy, in central London:

  • Bridge place, 88–89 Eccleston square, London SW 1 V 1PT
  • 151 Buckingham Palace road, London SW1W 9SS
  • Kingsgate house, 66–74 Victoria street, London SW 1E 6SW
  • 1 Victoria street, London SW1H OET
  • 10–18 Victoria street, London SW1H ONN

There are a number of central London buildings occupied by the Department's executive agencies which are not affected by the re-occupation of 1 Victoria street. These are:—

  • Insolvency Service
  • 21 Bloomsbury street, London WC1B 3QW
  • Patent Office
  • 25 Southampton buildings, London WC2A 1AY
  • Hazlitt house, 45 Southampton buildings, London WC2A 1AR
  • Radiocommuications Agency
  • Waterloo Bridge house, Waterloo road, London SE1 8UA

This reply does not take into account any consequences which might result from the recent machinery of Government changes.
