§ Mr. PaiceI meet regularly with representatives of training and enterprise councils and I am aware of their concerns about the length and content of the TEC operating agreement. The agreement is necessary for proper stewardship of public funds and is reviewed annually.
§ Mr. PearsonTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many TECs(a) are currently financially viable (b) are in the low-risk band under financial appraisal and monitoring, (c) are delivering the YT guarantee, (d) are recognised as an investor in people and (e) have an operational business link; and how many meet all five of these requirements. § Mr. PaiceOf the training and enterprise councils in England the information is as follows:
- (a) Financial Viability
- All 74 TECs are assessed as being financially viable.
- (b) Financial Appraisal and Monitoring Risk Bands
- 73 TECs were assessed as being low risk at the end of March 1995. One was assessed as medium risk.
- (c) Youth Training Guarantee
- All TECs deliver the YT guarantee as part of their contractual requirements.
- (d) Investors in People
- 50 TECs are currently recognised as Investors in People.
- (e) Business Links
- There are 107 business link outlets covering 34 TEC areas.
- Twenty seven TECs satisfy all five requirements.
§ Mr. DenhamTo ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list all training providers contracted to Hampshire training and enterprise councils at 1 January in each of the past five years and in each case the number of training places provided. [31842]
§ Mr. PaiceThe information is not available in the format requested. Training and enterprise councils are private companies and as such are not required to provide this Department with such information. It is for TECs to decide how they contract with their training providers in order to deliver their contract to the Department. It is up to individual TECs to provide such information direct to hon. Members.
