HC Deb 04 July 1995 vol 263 c119W
Mr. Denham

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what claims have been made against Railtrack by Network SouthCentral in respect of damage to train sets and loss of passenger revenue in April and May as a result of the failure to maintain the track properly. [31867]

Mr. Watts

A claim has been received and is being considered by Railtrack.

Mr. Denham

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what estimate he has made of the cost to Network SouthCentral in April and May of the additional wear to wheels and loss of passenger revenue as a result of the failure to maintain the track properly. [31865]

Mr. Watts

None. This is a commercial matter for the railway industry.

Mr. Denham

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many train services in the Network SouthCentral region were delayed by more than five minutes in April and May as a result of the failure to maintain the track properly. [31866]

Mr. Watts

British Rail's performance statistics do not specify reasons for delays. However, I understand from BR that recent track maintenance problems had no noticeable effects on the punctuality of Network SouthCentral services during April and May.
