§ Sir Teddy TaylorTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs when he was informed of a paper produced by a United States air force intelligence unit in February 1991 relating to the332W destruction of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggWe first learned of the report from a press inquiry on 23 January 1995. The allegation contained in the paper was first made at an early stage in the investigation and has been reflected in books about the Lockerbie diaster. It was examined at the time by the competent authorities, as part of their investigation, but no evidence has been found to substantiate it. My noble and learned Friend the Lord Advocate remains satisfied that the evidence supports the charges against the two accused and that there is no evidence to establish that other persons or nations were involved.
