§ Mr. Robert B. JonesThe only figure available for 1978–79 is for median rent, and this measure is used for both years. Estimated private rents in England were a median of £48.50 a week in 1993–94 and £4.75 a week in 1978–79, the latter being equivalent to £13 a week at 1993–94 prices.
These estimates are from the 1993–94 survey of English housing and the 1978–79 private renters survey, and are subject to sampling error.
