To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement about air pollution in London.

Mr. Atkins

Ambient concentrations of sulphur dioxide and lead in London have been declining for many years. Levels of traffic-related pollutants are also expected to decline significantly as catalyst-equipped cars replace older more polluting models in the vehicle parc.
