HC Deb 07 February 1995 vol 254 cc214-5W
Mr. Maclennan

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cases of alleged miscarriages of justices are currently being dealt with by officials in C3 division; when each case was received by his Department; and what is the number of personnel assigned to this work.

Mr. Nicholas Baker

At the beginning of 1995, 188 representations of wrongful conviction were under consideration in C3 division. Information about the date of receipt of each of these cases is not readily available in this form, but 106 of those cases had been outstanding for more than six months. Nineteen staff are engaged in work relating to allegations of wrongful conviction.
