Mr. Denham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to his answer of 25 January,Official Report, column 210, if he will list the local authorities which have conducted a ballot on proposed large-scale voluntary transfer of their housing stock and, in each case, the number of tenants eligible to vote, the number of those participating and the number of those voting for and against the proposed transfer.

Since 1988, 64 local authorities have conducted tenant ballots on proposed large-scale voluntary transfers. These authorities are listed, with details of the number of properties involved, the rate of tenant participation in the ballot and the proportion of tenants voting for and against the proposal.

The Department does not keep a central record of the number of tenants eligible to vote in each transfer, the actual number of votes cast or the actual numbers of tenants voting for and against each proposal.
