Information collected centrally in respect of officers who resigned while under suspension is restricted to those resignations before disciplinary charges were preferred.
In 1993, there were 56 officers in England and Wales who resigned while under investigation for disciplinary matters but before disciplinary charges were preferred, including 13 in the Metropolitan police. Figures for earlier years are not available centrally.
